Family #AutismSpeaks

Meet the Kirby Family! This family is one of the strongest families I know and I have learned so much through their son Nolan. Nolan is non-verbal yet has so much to say. He is bright, artistic, and loves his routines. I must say that I was extremely impressed when he looked at the camera for some shots... this is not an easy task for someone with autism to do, but he did so great! He has an extremely special bond with is sisters Abby and Katie and it is evident he loves them dearly in these few snapshots from the day. Abby is heading off to start her masters in California and Katie is starting her senior year of high school. Both the girls have good heads on their shoulders and will achieve anything they put their minds to.

Last month Kim lost her mother. As a tribute to Kim's mom, each of the kids held flowers to represent a memory held dear to their hearts. These specific flowers will always have a meaningful place in the Kirby's lives. It's never easy loosing someone, but I know Kim's mom was beaming from heaven when she saw this beautiful tribute.

I absolutely love this family and the dynamics that make them unique.  This quote by Temple Grandin is one we should all keep close "Some people with autism may not be able to speak or answer to their name, but they can still hear your words and feel your kindness."

Keep on shinning Kirby Family!!!
